Maintenance Calories: Fat vs Muscle

Hey Bodybuilding.com,

I’m brand new to the sport and currently trying to make my noob gains. For the first time ever I’m getting my diet in check. I’m eating the suggested 1991 calories to maintain at 176lbs, but since I’m mostly fat and fat takes less calories to maintain than muscle, am I actually eating over my maintenance?

All my macros are in check (186g protein, 187g carbs, 51g fats) and I’m eating chicken, rice, and protein shakes.
