Hi all,
Been lurking this place for a while, but decided I’d jump on to join in.
I’m struggling to determine if it’s worth continuing with my calorie deficit or start a start a slight surplus.
Quick background:
I’ve been skinny fat for the past 4 years after having not kept my fitness up over that time. For the past month I’ve been eating at a calorie deficit of 500, about 1890 a day, while working out and doing a lot of cardio to burn off the belly fat.
Diet is mostly white meats, green veggies, and eggs.
1 month in:
Age: 27 (disregard the 48 on my profile, don't know why it says that)
Height: 175cm
Started: 79.9kg at 24-25% body fat
Today: 74.5kg at 20% body fat
(Tape measure method - waist and neck)
I’ve made some good progress, losing fat and building a bit of muscle. But I’m not sure if it would be best to continue. My goal is an athletic build with some decent muscle, so I will have to bulk at some point. It’s also coming up to summer here in AUS, so I don’t want to bulk too much and put the fat back on.
Is it worth continuing the deficit until I hit around 16% BF, and then slow bulk from there?
Here is a before and after. Non tensed on both photos. EDIT: can’t post images yet. Check my body space gallery for the photos.
