Does IF speed up one's metabolic rate?

I've been doing IF for the past few months or so after reading on all of the health benefits; one of them includes a faster metabolism which I'm skeptical about.

Eating more frequent meals throughout the day makes more sense to me but the same of number of people who say this also say the opposite so I'll never really be sure, and I'm too lame to experiment on my own.

Maybe it's still calories in/out at the end of the day and it doesn't make a difference when or how frequently you eat.

What do you guys think?
