Do supplements matter?

This is mainly re: protein supps: If you're hitting your calories & macros, is there any reason to allot any of them to protein powders?

E.g. I have a scoop of whey post workout and casein before bed, and incorporate it into my macros and calories for the day, but because of that I'll adjust my other foods so I stay in the calorie range....but is there really any reason to have these supplements if I'm getting my 1g of protein per lb of bodyweight through whole foods and meeting my caloric goals?
