Protein intake... How much and when?

I'm 230lbs. and taking in 207g of protein per day. I keep reading differing information about how much protein the body can process in one feeding and how much time between feeding.

I Iike to eat larger meals fewer times a day so I'm usually 30-40g per meal with 2 shakes per day at 56g per shake.

What I'm reading from some sources is that 20-30g per feeding is all the body can use at once and to wait 2-3 hours between feedings. Others are saying there's no official rule or study and can eat 50g or more and as frequently as required, IF diets especially.

So what's the truth?
