I've always wanted to put on weight being on the skinny side, but my job always stopped me from doing so. I did a nightshift job so I found myself awake at night a lot of the time when I wasn't working and when I was awake at the correct time of day, I just didn't have the energy. I know people talk about excuses but it just wasn't possible to get into a routine with that sort of lifestyle. The annoying things is, is that I worked in a super market. The dieting side of the game would have been super easy.
Now however, I've quit that job and moved out to China. I have so much free time now it's unreal and I genuinely find myself wanting to hit the gym during most of it. The issue now though is the dieting side... It's just a flip side of the coin completely.
1) There isn't a supermarket near me as far as I know that will allow me to do the sort of food shops I'll need. There's a Walmart, but its food section is pretty small and doesn't have a lot of the things I would need. Apart from that, there isn't a great deal of choice that's in a close enough vicinity to me.
2) The kitchen in the flat I've been supplied with by my new job is not really up to standard. A microwave and a single hob is essentially the extent of the kitchen. If I can get the food in, I'm not really sure how possible it will be trying to cook all of my meals for the week. We also have a tiny fridge (which my flatmate likes to fill 2/3rds of with beer) so there's a space issue there as well.
3) I'm new to the city so I don't know what's what and I can't speak the language. So it's not as if I can consistently pick out restaurants that can feed me properly either.
I sort of find myself filling 50% of my diet with Mcdonalds at the moment just because it's easy. Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly aware of how important dieting is. I don't see the point of spending however much on a gym membership if I'm going to ruin it with Mcdonalds and sweet and sour pork. so I haven't bothered. I do wonder what kind of results or workarounds might be possible however.
