Some help on estimating bodyfat % and advice for building muscle?

Hey guys, I'm new here and kinda just need some advice and help. Wondering what my current bodyfat% looks like as well as how do i build muscle. I used to be overweight and im scared that increasing my calories will just make me pack the pounds back on. Is there a way to get over the mental block or can i gain muscle by just eating at maintenance to avoid fat gain? I'm 6"1 and 156 lbs currently. Used to be close to 200lbs. Pls help!
