I've read tons of guidelines for how much protein to consume to gain muscle mass and everything is based on body weight. The issue I have with that is that I'm a fatty at 260 pounds. It's hard for me to believe that I should be consuming the same amount of protein as a 260 pound bodybuilder.
I began lifting again about a month ago with the primary goal of gaining muscle while also slowly dropping the fat.
So, does anyone have any guidelines not based on bodyweight? I know I've seen some in the past based on current muscle mass but have not found them today.
Thanks.
PS I know I should focus more on getting the pounds off but lifting has worked well for that in the past and I can't stay motivated by starving myself and all that cardio just yet. It is what it is.
