Background info: I've been weightlifting 3-4 times a week for the past 4 years without any type of planning or direction other than trying to balance out my workouts to hit different muscle groups. My diet was mostly unrestricted, although I limit unhealthy foods.
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Height: 5'7
Weight: 170 lbs
Activity level: 3-4 times a week (~50 mins weightlifting)
My goal now is to lose my gut which has noticeably appeared over the course of the last 4 months due to eating more and moving less. Common sense says I should aim to lose weight, but I just want to point out something that made me not so sure and come here for advice. I've reached 170 pounds when I was active and before I had a noticeably large gut. Now that I do have one, I am still 170 pounds. So while I want to lose my gut, I am not sure if that translates to adopting a 'lose weight' strategy. Normally, I would simply eat less and move more and see where that goes. But this time around, I would like to be more proactive by using information on this forum, but I'm not even sure what my goal should be regarding my weight. Advice?
Thanks.
