Gaining Muscle - How many calories should I be taking in?

Hi everyone!

I’m 28 years old, 5’6”, and 142 lbs and I’m currently weightlifting for 30-40min, 4 times/week.

I would like to lose a few pounds of fat, and also gain some muscle, but I don’t believe I can do both at the same time, so I wanted to try gaining the muscle first (since more muscle means an increased calorie burn), but I’m not sure how much I should be eating to gain muscle (and I definitely don’t want to gain more fat). My BMR is about 1,400-1,500 calories depending on what calculator I use, so I’ve upped my calorie intake to 1,800 is this enough to see muscle gains, or do I need to increase it more.
