Hello everyone, it's been a couple years since I was here last.
Basically, I've been just sitting around for about 2 years.
My question is...
My doctor says that I have high cholesterol. Now, if I'm losing weight, do I still need to watch my saturated fat intake, or could I get away with eating bacon, cookies, etc, if I really wanted to, or would it actually make my cholesterol go up more?
I personally think that my cholesterol would still go down, simply because I'm using more calories than I'm eating. So it shouldn't really matter what I eat. (Seriously though, I'm not going to be sitting here eating junkfood all day, because, I wouldn't get the proper nutrients)
My total cholesterol is currently 222 but, my LdL is around 160-165, so i really need to get that back around 100 or lower.
Blood pressure, sugar, and triglycerides are all fine, its just my LdL that needs lowered.
I've been eating more oatmeal (soluble fiber), bananas (potassium), peanutbutter (poly/mono-unsaturated fats) lately because, they all help lower your LdL.
Over the last week or so, I've been trying to cut back on smoking and eating better. Started walking a bit the other day and finally started gonig back to the gym yesterday.
I've been reading a lot about cholesterol lately. I wasn't dropping my actual cholesterol intake by much "if any", because its tightly regulated and if you eat more of it, your liver produces less, if you eat less, your liver produces more. (Plus I like eating eggs)
I just got a new food scale, so if it comes down to it, I'm just going back to eating like I did a few years back when I was going to the gym 6 days/week. Spinach, peanutbutter, chicken, fish, fruit, yogurt, huge salads and what not, with a lot less fastfood/snacks.
