I've tried googling this, but it just brings up bull**** eating disorder results since it hangs on the word "laxative". I'm also mobile right now which makes browsing a bit difficult.
I've been stuck on a plateau for a long time. I'm 5'6, and for the last 2 years I've been between 137-142lb bodyweight. Very rarely I can get the scale to read ~145, but it quickly drops back down.
Similarly, my lifts have hit a huge diminishing returns and I'm not making good progress anymore. I know to keep getting stronger I need to build more muscle (IE, gain weight).
Problem is, when I try to add more to my diet, for lack of an elegant way of saying it, I just start to have a laxative effect and use the bathroom 3-4 times a day for a bowel movement. So I'm not retaining the calories/protein. I actually think I've lost a pound or two since adding more food into my routine.
I've tried spacing out my meals/protein intake, but that barely seems to help. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it. Here is a rough idea of my daily intake (varies somewhat):
Breakfast (eaten over the course of 60-90min):
4(?) Egg Whites + 2 piece thick cut turkey bacon
BumbleBee Tuna Package
Banana
Snack (~2 hour post-breakfast):
English Muffin with peanut butter spread
Lunch (eaten in one sitting):
Grilled Chicken
Mixed Vegetables OR rice pilaf OR beans
Snack:
Protein shake (whey + milk) OR protein bar
Pre-Gym:
ON Amino Energy + Citrulline + Creatine + Agamtine (not sure on spelling, can't check atm)
Dinner:
Grilled Chicken OR Deer meat
Salad OR mixed vegetables OR salad
Pre-Bedtime:
Casein protein shake (made with milk and with things like peanut butter, strawberry/blueberry, spinach, oats, almonds added in)
To be honest I have never counted calories or found my exact protein intake, for starters I should probably do that. I've always eyeballed everything.
Thinking about it now I think things got a little worse after I started taking the ON Amino Energy, but I'm not sure if that's the only factor. Not sure if the caffeine sources are having some of that laxative/diuretic effect.
I try to keep a glass of water with me at all times, I know I'm properly hydrated.
Any input or ideas are appreciated. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I will try to log my intake sometime in the next couple of days so I can get an exact representation of what I'm eating. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this issue, and what was done about it.
