Hey all. First post here, and I have some questions. I don’t have very much knowledge when it comes to nutrition and exercise as this is the first time I’m really taking it seriously, so please bear with me.
I have a disability(spastic triplegia due to cerebral palsy) that prevents me from using my legs as much apart from tall kneeling around the house, and I’m trying to figure out how this will affect the number of calories I need in order to lose weight.
I am a very short male at 5’5, 20 years old, about 150 pounds, and visually I would estimate myself to be at around 25 percent body fat. I exercise a bit every day, but I would say honestly I only sit down to work out for more than an hour about 3-4 times a week.
My ultimate goal is to get down to about 135-140 pounds, and somewhere in the range of 10-15 percent body fat.
To get there, I’ve started trying intermittent fasting (basically means only eating dinner for me) and limiting myself to about 1400 calories per day.
With all this in mind, here are my questions:
Is my end goal a realistic expectation?
How many calories do I actually need, given that I don’t really use my legs nearly as much as the average person? I roughly estimated 1400, and have been sticking to that for a little under two weeks, but should I be eating less than this?
How long should it take for me to realistically see some noticeable results?
Thanks for the help. Any advice is appreciated.
