Question For Those Claiming "Mental Clarity" While Fasting

I've always kind of wondered why/how folks who identify as 'IFers' and especially people who do OMAD or 24+ hour fasts can experience 'mental clarity' during long fasts (brb "I love fasting"... aka -- 'I love not eating?')

Although I've experienced times in the past where simply not preoccupying my mind with the thought of food has helped me focus on other subjects, I never really felt it was a physiological response to fasting, rather just not having to 'deal with' preparing or sitting down to a meal.

Even still, any 'focus' benefits I had immediately left once I started to feel hungry.... and to be honest if someone fasts for over 24 hours, I don't really see how they could feel mentally 'well' or clear if they're super, super hungry...

Anyway, just kind of curious what others here have to say.

Frankly I've been focusing more on just eating when I feel like, and I've noticed that some days I naturally eat between about 10-11am and 7pm... while others i'll wake up starving and eat something small at about 7... but then feel no hunger until about noon or 1pm, and eating times are just sporadic. Zero difference in 'clarity'... body feels just as good as any other timing schedule... and in fact not having to stick to a 'set' window also removes the food focus because I don't have to think about when I can actually eat (as opposed to forcing myself to WAIT until a certain time to start, and stop before it gets past another time).

Anywho... just curious what others think about it, or what they've experienced. Seems like in many circles people just want a tribe/group to identify with as opposed to really feeling a tangible benefit... call me crazy ;)
