Painful mass behind left nip

Apologies if this is the incorrect place to post this, but..
I've been dealing with this issue for a few years now, thinking that it would go away.

A few years ago I was working out, doing flat bench dumbbell presses. I got a little carried away and grabbed a weight that was too much for me and slammed the weight down on my chest.
After that point I've been dealing with a painful mass under my nipple area. It hasn't gotten any bigger, but it also hasn't gotten any smaller. The right nipple is completely unaffected, just the left one where the weight hit.

I've done a lot of research, and a lot of things point to gynocomastia. The only thing I haven't nailed down though, is that it doesn't effect both of them, and it was injured on impact. The tissue of my right pectoral is completely fine. I'm not sure if this is something that would have to be surgically removed.

The area is constantly swollen, painful, and pretty embarrassing. I've been training for about 5 years now and have never touched steroids. According to the articles I've read, any hormonal imbalances would effect both of them, not just one. I'm 29 years old, and in good health.

I was just really curious if anyone else had these issues. Again, I wanted to see if it got any better, and kind of put it off for a few years.
I know the most obvious response will be "go see a doctor", but I just want to know what everyone else thinks of this.

Thank you
Scot
