I’ve seen a lot of recommendations of eating simple carbs (honey, sugar, fruit, dextrose, etc) directly after working out with a protein shake, and then waiting an hour or so and having another meal with a lot of complex carbs with more protein. I was wondering if there was a specific reason for waiting an hour-ish for the complex carbs and rest of your protein? I know the simple carbs are to have an insulin spike and digest quicker, but is there a reason you shouldn’t eat the rest your post workout complex carbs or benefit to waiting an hour for them? Same with solid protein such as cottage cheese yogurt meats etc
