deployed

Hello, bodybuilding.com,

My name is Luke and I am currently deployed in the middle east. I have 3 more months left on my tour and a great opportunity to get my body into the shape I have been trying to for the last 10 years. So to keep this short and not give you my life story I have the following questions:

Do you need carbs to build muscle or is it just for energy? (I can not eat for 2 days and still have plenty of energy to work out)
Is protein all that is required to build muscle? (e.g. if I ate nothing but protein powder and lifted would I gain muscle?)
Is culking (cutting while bulking) really a thing?

In a nutshell the food here is terrible and the vegetables are so far gone that they have no nutritional value left. I currently eat a 3 egg omelette with bacon, cheese, mushrooms and jalapenos for breakfast. some kind of protein and salad for lunch and a protein shake for dinner.

I do cardio in the mornings before breakfast and shoulder exercises (bad scapula/rotator cuff) than weights training at 11 before lunch. I will be starting the 12-week shortcut to size training starting in a few days, but not the diet as I do not have access to that much food / types.

My goals is to loose weight, gain muscle and generally tone up as I am currently skinny fat. 28 5ft 10 80kg.

I know this is a random assortment of thought and questions but I am really lost, I have done so much training and worked so hard over the years and I just never seem to see results. Please help.

Regards,

Luke
