Post workout Shake vs Food

Is there an actual benefit to drinking one of the various protein powder mixes after a workout? Or is simply eating a protein rich food equally as effective.

An example of a food could be half a chicken breast or a cup of fat free yogurt. (Both about 25g protein.)

Especially compared to yogurt, I'm skeptical that something like whey protein would be better nutritionally because they're both just milk derived.

Is it cost and/or convenience or am I missing something?

(Apologies if this has been posted before, but I couldn't find it, and googling doesn't seem to have great answers.)
