Nutrition coming back into the gym

I’m going home next week after 3 months of traveling, and not having a gym, as well as very little dietary restriction, just conscious decisions not to overindulge mostly. Obviously I’ve seen loss in muscle mass, a small amount of fat gain on top of what I did have before I left. My big question now is, what should my approach be when I get back? My plan for exercise is an intense routine of lifting, with cardio mixed in as well, but really focusing on strength and power. Ideally I would like to reduce body fat and increase muscle mass (not really possible so to speak), so one would assume that a caloric deficit would be the way to go. But I just want some outside thoughts on this, is there a more effective route? Would it be better to try maintenance calories or even a surplus? Or should I stick with my plan to cut for a while, and preserve strength while reducing fat. I’m genuinely curious what people think about this, I have a fairly good idea of what I myself think will work, but I am far from an expert, and I like to hear ideas. So have at it
Thanks all
