Having a problem while bulking and as someone not very knowledgeable with this stuff (just trying for first time) I thought I’d turn to here.
So I’m 19 years old, pretty lean but I felt that I gained too much fat in my first year at college, so over the summer I decided to eat healthy and to go on a cut. It went really well! Lost a ton of fat, felt great and developed strong 6-bordering on 8-pack abs. Then, as my cut had put me down to a very light 155, heading back to college this year I decided it might be time to bulk and get some more muscle. However, it’s been very tough for me to eat healthy at college and I think I may have gone a bit overboard with eating unhealthy food. I’m really healthy for some periods (use good macros) but then ruin it with frequent fatty food binges (especially after drinking). It’s been only a month and a half but I’ve already gained like 10 pounds. I do feel stronger at the gym and have kept up a great 5 day a week workout routine, but I also look noticeably fatter in the mirror already. The original plan was to bulk for 6 months and then cut down again, but if I’m gaining this much after only a month, there might be a problem.
So I went too dirty and too excessive at the start of this bulk. My decision now is: should I call it all off, cut down again to my lean 6-packy figure and try another time, or should I stick it out with the original long bulk but just try and eat better?
I’m leaning towards the second option since I really would like to gain some muscle (up to 175 lbs) but the problem is that if I keep bulking I won’t be able to lose all that fat I just gained. Interested to hear some ideas?
