Am I doing my gains right?

Hey, everyone.

I've been wanting gain weight for years now, ever since I was in middle school. Was never able to properly do it though, because of my own financial reasons. I took weight training when I was in my junior year of high school so I have basic experience in training, and I would say I'm pretty defined for a skinny guy.

Now that I'm out of high school, and have a decent paying job, I was finally able to afford the gym on my own and properly fix my diet. I've always done my research on bulking and dieting but now I'm finally initiating it solo, I'm not sure if there's anything I'm doing wrong, or anything I can do better than what I'm doing now.

So right now, I'm currently 18 years old
5'11, 131lbs and I would say I'm moderately active, meaning I'm usually on my feet from time to time. Walking around, and going back and forth at my job.

I'm supposed to be eating 3100 calories a day to gain 1lb a week, according to my food diary app. I don't have a specific diet plan, I'm doing more of a normal bulk meaning I'm eating meals that are well put together, such as rice / chicken / fish / pasta, but at the same time I'll probably have a burger or something.

I've been currently at the gym for two weeks now, and gained 3 lbs last week, since I've been surpassing my calorie from somewhere around 500-1000 calories more than what I'm supposed to eat. I just want to know if I am doing anything wrong or if there's something I need to improve on. I just want to know so I don't get poor results in the future.

Thanks to anyone who responds.
