I'm going to try my best to go on a clean bulk. I've wanted to for a long time and finally got given that motivational push that's going to allow me to do it. So I've been doing some research on nutrition so I can plan out my diet and meal times and routinely plan out my life from this point on and came across this article on bodybuilding.com which I would share but can't because I need a greater post count apparently.
There's something here I want to discuss and it's this thing here... "Men should strive to have less than 12 percent body fat before bulking. If you don't have access to reliable body composition testing, use the four-pack guideline as your deciding factor: If you can see at least four abs, you're lean enough to bulk. If not, your best bet is to begin with a dieting phase, then transition into a bulking phase once you lean out."
Ok? So here's the thing. I am 150lbs and 5ft10. I am quite fat... It might not sound fat no, but I am. I've always been ridiculously skinny and this is the heaviest I've been. I don't look overweight by any means, but my stomach and lower back are just fat deposits and I can see those cellulite lines everywhere in the mirror in the light... I reckon I'm probably about 30%-35% body fat which is why I want to go on a clean bulk. Don't get me wrong, 150lb is still not very much weight and I was hoping that any muscle I do add to my frame would still show in some form, but I wondered what people thought about this quote. This time last year I was 115lbs and I still had too much body fat for even 2 abs to show through so I'm not sure how healthy it would be for me to try and lose weight first.
