Building muscle without carbs

No I'm not talking Keto diets. Most of us know that carbs help move the protein to start the rebuilding process right?

So what if when I get done with my workout I drink a protein water, or any isolate protein drink that has basically no carbs and then I dont eat for an hour or so which would be when I'd get my carbs.

Am I hindering maximum muscle repair you think? Or is it not enough to over say a 1-3 months be noticable?

I ask because I've been working out and downing these protein waters when I leave and thought to myself if I'm wasting money and screwing myself over by not shuttling some carbs in me to help that isolate protein.

Thoughts?
