Nutrition help for a vegetarian

Hi there

I am looking for a bit of help with my diet.

I am a lacto vegetarian. Meaning I eat milk, cheese, dairy. But do not eat eggs and things like that.

I have been training for years on and off and have never got anywhere near to where I want to be in regards to size or definition.

I know that diet is the key to this but quite frankly mine sucks as I do not know much about this side of training.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to where I can learn about this? Or are there any other lacto vegetarians on here that could help due to their experiences?

Any advice would be very much appreciated.
