Tips and advice for counting calories when at social events, restaurants, take-out, e

I've just started my lifting journey, am bulking, and tracking my calories/macros using MFP. About two months in now and gaining.

This is the first time I've ever tracked my intake before, but so far it's going pretty well. Most days I prepare all my food so logging has been pretty straight forward. But I also am pretty social. And have never really paid attention to labels/portion sizes. So eating out with friends, or attending a social event (wedding I attended last week, for example) are a bit more difficult to track.

I'm not going to not eat at an event or a small chain restaurant because I don't have nutritional info. Or bring my own food, or wait to eat later so I can log it correctly. I'm not that person.

However, I do enjoy tracking and appreciate its usefulness in this whole process and see how valuable it is. But my issue is for example I ate and logged breakfast last week. Then ate lunch and a dessert at the wedding, and had absolutely zero clue what to log. And with my experience couldn't even begin to guesstimate. So I didn't bother tracking my dinner either because I had no clue where I was at for the day. Just ate normally and left a pretty empty looking food log for the day.

Any advice you guys have for maybe doing this a different way?
