I hired a new coach for my prep for the NPC Universe nationals and he has made a wild adjustment to my meal plan and I really need some advices. My calories went from 5158 to 2439 Carbs went from 733g to 222g a day, protein from 347 to 256, fats from 109 to 53. That's what I ended my last prep on. That seems insane to me. I am 202 lbs and my last prep I started 10 weeks out weighing 193 and ended at 180. I did need to be a couple lbs leaner because I got food poisoning 3 weeks out I lost 2 weeks of progress. I have to start my prep this Sunday and I'll be 12 weeks out and I'm competing in mens physique. When I questioned him about this he said because I need to come in leaner and if we need to add food back we can. But wont my metabolic rate adapt and at that point adding food back be fruitless where weight loss is concerned? I'd appreciate some help as I need to decide whether to go with this or move on to a different more gradual plan. I don't understand why we wouldn't make small adjustments as needed instead of taking 60% of my food away on week one. Thanks for any help. Sorry if I left something out. Edit some of my weight gain has been fat but a lot is lean mass. I am currently about 12% body fat.
