What can I expect from my first bulk?

Started lifting in October '18, been on a calorie deficit for the whole time as I wanted to lose weight as priority. Gone from 220lbs to 170lbs since then, currently really happy with the "newbie" gains that have come along with the weight loss on an aggressive deficit (1800 calories per day, lifting 5-6 days per week). My first clean bulk is on my mind now, want to begin that in about 10-15lbs time but I have a few questions...

1. Should I eat at maintenance for a bit first (around 2700-2800 calories), or go straight into a calorie surplus? I ask this as I wonder if it is in anyway dangerous to go from 1800 for 8 months straight up to 3000 calories.
2. Does progress on lifts and muscle gain improve significantly when on a bulk?
3. Can I expect my general feeling whilst working out to improve? Some days on this cut can be difficult in the gym, most days are fine though.
