TDEE Inaccurate Amount?

According to the TDEE calculators I should be consuming 2,546 calories per day, but I tallied up the foods I eat and my daily intake is between 1,500 and 1,600, and I have lived on that amount of calories per day for most of my life. Is it possible that some bodies simply don't require the conventional number of calories, and will adapt to a much lower maintenance level because it has been accustomed to low amounts for a significantly long time?
