A Question that needs a clearcut answer

Hello everyone,

So I am here after several months of inactivity on these boards, and yes, I am here for help. I am here to ask some questions that I am yet to find the answers for, no matter how much I've searched through the internet, or these boards. I would appreciate that those of you who have answers like "Do your research", or "Google is your friend", to keep their opinions to themselves, since I have already done all that, and it is the conflict of points of view that I have seen while doing that research that has brought me here, to ask anyone to break this down for me.

So here is the setting. I used to weigh about 120kgs about two years ago, and I got onto Myfitnesspal, used a calorie restrictive diet, and some gym time to bring my weight down to 93kgs. I was at around 87 at some point, but have put weight back on since. As it happens for most people, I reached a point where I was consuming about 1400 calories a day (34 yo, 5' 9", male) and stopped losing any weight at all.

At that time, I made a lot of decisions which probably weren't for the best. At first, I reduced my caloric intake to 1000 calories a day (for a couple of weeks), but realized that it was unnatural, and left me tired all day.

I went from that to a keto diet for several weeks, but someone I had terrible digestive side effects with all the fat intake, and while I lost a couple of kilos during the weeks I was on keto, I put it all back on once I switched back to my calorie limited diet.

I was influence by Dr. Jason Fung to try an extended fast, which apparently "resets insulin sensitivity and improve BMR", but after a few tries that lasted about three days each time, I realized that they were only adding to my weight problem.

My energy levels have been downhill ever since I have embarked on this weight loss journey, I can't lift as I did before, and I feel like I sleep a lot more than normal (about nine hours a day or more). I have normal blood pressure and blood sugar levels.

Recently, I've started to really pay attention to the fibre content in my food, and tried to switch to a more health oriented eating system, trying to have as much portions of raw or stir fried vegetables and soups in a day as I can, limiting my carbohydrate intake, and reducing my intake of processed foods to almost nothing.

I still don't loose any weight. I wax and wane, going down to 90kgs, then back up again to 93, never more, never less. My ideal weight should be around 78kgs, so I have a ton of weight to lose.

I recently read about biological set points, where your body decides to remain at a certain weight point and not go lower. My real concern is that even inspite of regular activity, swimming and working out at the gym, I feel like I am putting on fat. My weight remains, but I look larger every day.

I have probiotic capsules everyday, since I hear that a lot of obesity related issues may have something to do with bad bacteria in your gut (due to antibiotics etc.) As an allergy sufferer I have been on antihistamines for a very long time (over 3 years), and since my condition, chronic urticaria has no cure, I will have to be on these medications for life.

I need help from anyone who can help me. What can I do get of this dreaded plateau, and continue my weight loss. I am at a loss to explain how much this affects me, and any help you can give me would be a god send.

I apologize if the post is long winding.

Cheers!
