Hi. I'm a skinny guy who's started strength training to gain some muscle mass. Upperbody weightlifting the first part of the week, then cardio day, then legs and then free weekends. So far, so great. Lifted weights, on lowest level for now, for a couple of days now. Definitely feel a tad sore, which I've heard is normal on beginners. However, I have a big problem: The diet.
I need to reach around 2200 calories a day to be on a calorie surplus. Problem is, it's without a doubt the hardest thing so far. I spend most of the day at college, so I can only eat twice a day, and even though I try to get the most nutritious, caloric meals, I can't reach the calories I need to reach. It's hard enough, cause I end up feeling overfed and sluggish, yet I don't hit the goal.
Tried some of those famous caloric shakes too, but they're no joke either. One glass is extremely dense and stuffing.
I don't know what I should do. Should I just try to worry about lifting my weights for now and eat my meals normally? Will I still see some progress on my body? Or is it absolutely essential to find a way to reach those 2200 calories?
