I’m finding it very difficult to consistently hit my macro and calories goals with a decent diet (I.e. not McDonalds 5x a week).
I’m sick of dealing with raw chicken, and tired of eating it.
Another issue I’m having is with fish. I’m in the middle of Texas, and my options for good, fresh fish are very limited.
I find myself eating lots of canned/prepackaged foods daily. Such as a tin of smoked herring,
An entire can of beans (I buy low sodium and rinse them well),
Canned corn, bagged microwave rice.
I’m concerned about the long term effects of high levels of this food in my diet. Sodium, preservatives, and any ingredient I can’t recognize or pronounce.
The only fresh things in my diet are: eggs (I splurge on “higher quality” ones), some fruits (mostly only bananas, tomatoes, apples, and clementines), and vegetables (staples: spinach, brussel sprouts, asparagus, onions).
I try to maintain a varied diet, but I’m also extremely busy (like everyone) and can’t spend an hour+ each day cooking/prepping/planning meals.
Current dietary goals each day:
120g+ protein
65+g fat
3100 calories
(Softer goals:
50g or less added sugar
40g fiber)
I’m running a full body 3x5 program (Fierce 5); trying to gain strength. I’m 6ft, 160 lbs, 24 years old.
There’s so much conflicting data on health that it makes my head spin the more I read.
I’ve had major eating issues in the past (never been fat; always skinny) varying from extremely strict vegetarian to binging.
Any words of wisdom or tips? And glaring issues with my diet?
