The importance of meal-timing before workout?!

Good afternoon :)

What's your take on meal timing before your workout? I usually work out at 6pm and have a good pre-workout lunch (usually seafood or meat) at around 3pm. I wish I have it closer to my workout, but due to meetings and other work-related stuff I wouldn't be able to. Is 3 hours before a workout sufficient?
