Confusion around intermittent fasting (IF)

I have been working on my physique for around 10 months now and recently I started cutting. Now a week or so ago I did some research on intermittent fasting and it sounded pretty good so I went on and tried it. My maintenance caloric intake is 2500 so I'm gonna go for a 2000 caloric intake. Now I do have a couple of questions around IF that I'm not able to find an answer for, first off, while intermittent fasting is it a MUST to reduce calories even under the 2000 or is it still okay if I am able to consume 2000 calories in an 8 hour eating window? Second question does it matter what I eat when I break my fast (healthy of course), most times I eat Greek yoghurt with some protein powder and besides that some oats with milk.
