I'm 26, 146lbs, 5'08 Male. 20% bodyfat, can no longer see abs, got lovehandles and looking skinny fat. All calculators online are telling me to restict my calories to 1200 a day to lose 2lbs of fat every week. Im trying to get down to 132 which is about 10% bodyfat for me before I go back up to maintenance calories. It should take me about 2 months to reach this goal. What do you guys think?
2lbs a week fat loss is the fastest you can lose anyways. I know 1200 calories is low for a guy but I'm already really small in general and not the tallest. Hell if I was totally inactive, calculators are telling me 1000 calories a day for my frame.
I know some of you may say you're only 146, cutting should be the last thing on your mind. However I'm at 20% bodyfat, if I can bring it down to 10% then I can decrease my insulin resistance and improve hormone levels too. I'm also just doing it for health reasons too because if I keep trying to gain muscle then I'll start heading towards 25% bodyfat since I'm already at 20%.
I also figured that with cutting this fat off, I'm going to start eating as many whole foods as I can. I used to have sodas, chips, and energy drinks all the time and always run away from fruits and vegetables.
