Diet for beginner

I am new to weightlifting and have been going consistently for about a month. I am a pretty skinny guy, but have some stomach fat I want to lose. ( I weigh around 170 and am 20 years old ). The question is should I cut my calories and eat more protein? Or increase my calorie intake all together? I have read and seen both sides of the argument so looking forward to the responses.

My overall goal is to build muscle and look more cut. Thanks
