Counting macros from candies/sugar

Hi,

If i am on a bulk and i want to build muscle with slight caloric surplus do i count calories and macros from sugar? For example: my maintenance is 2500 calories. Now let's assume that i am eating 2400kcal of healthy and nutritious food (which would put me very slightly below maintenance) and the rest of my calories (300-400 to get me into surplus) i would get from eating kitchen sugar with my spoon (i am not doing that, just want to know what would happen). Would i build muscle in this scenario or just pure fat?
