How much protein?

Sorry for the cliche newb question. But the protein calculator says for me I need 174g of protein per day. But it didn't ask for my body fat percentage...I would have thought it would need to be calculated based on lean muscle weight not general weight.

I'm just getting started (after many years away) and I'm skinny fat. Just a wild guess on body fat would be maybe 20%. Which would take my 160lbs calculation down to 128lbs. That's a big difference.

Come someone please advise?
