When I say nutrition I mean just maintaining a calorie surplus and eating more protein for muscle synthesis. This is my first time ever putting my body through strength training in any form so my muscles are super underdeveloped. I’ve read and been told that during the first month or so of lifting if you’re someone like me your body is adapting neurologically more than anything and building a better mind muscle connection even as you increase weights, so muscle synthesis isn’t necessary or stimulated.
I put on almost 5 pounds in the last month and am a bit worried that it was almost entirely fat and would’ve been better off just eating for maintenance for my first few weeks in the gym. Is there any truth to this?
Edit: Ignore the age listed on the account I’m 20 if that’s relevant
