So I am new to bodybuilding at 31. I probably am what most people would consider skinny fat. Im 6 feet tall, started off at 188 pounds. BF % on my scale using bio-impedance was 19.8% or so. I saw online that most people suggested to cut first for anyone with BF >15% so I started doing that along with the strong lifts program. I ate 1350 calories a day then upped to 1500 then now im at 1800. My weight is down to 168 and BF is 15.4% according to the scale. I put up pictures on my profile.
Now my original plan was to keep the cut going until I get to 10% but ive been losing muscle if the BF % is accurate (Strength is the same now was increasing before but now stuck on the weights/ takes long to advance). My goal has been aesthetics and not strength. Im doing strong lifts though as a start and here are some lift numbers ( theyre pretty low)
Squat is 185 pounds from 65 pounds
Overhead Press is 80 pounds from 45 pounds ( very difficult to advance with this now)
Bench is 115 pounds from 75 pounds ( Difficult to advance as well)
Deadlift is 195 pounds from 65 pounds
Barbell Row is 110 pounds
So the big question is :
a) Suck it up and continue cutting all the way down to 10% even if your weights don't go up at the gym.
b) Start a bulk your crazy you look too skinny
c) finish this month at a cut and then start bulking
d) No right answer just go with what you feel like.
