2020 Goals, Resolutions, etc...whatever you wanna call it

I hate resolutions. Let's call them goals. Post 2-3 goals you would like to achieve for this upcoming year. Can by anything - physique, diet, career, family, sex life, ice cream intake, etc..

I will bump thread at the end of 2020 and can see how you did. I will call you out as well:)

For myself, I definitely would like to spend more time with family and friends. I have focused so much on my career and business that now it's time to chill a bit. I'm happy where I am and I definitely plan on spending more time with fam and friends.

Diet. Eat more veggies. I suck.

How about you?

Eggs in Instant Pot

I've been hardboiling eggs a dozen at a time in my instant pot and so far I haven't noticed any problems. But I can eat 48 egg whites a day (and still have 2 or 3 other meals) and it gets old having to constantly do the instant pot cycle.

Has anyone experimented with max number of eggs you can hardboil in there at one time?

The impacts of a caloric deficit on improving aerobic endurance?

During a cut we usually talk about trying to minimize muscle loss and abandon all hopes of putting on additional muscle and making any significant strength gains. But how does a caloric deficit affect your body's ability to improve cardiovascular ability and aerobic performance? I used to play basketball in high school, i haven't played for years, i'm going to start playing again and i'm currently cutting. My cardio and fitness levels are complete trash right now compared to where they used to be, i am wondering how a deficit is going to impact my ability to get fit and increase cardio while dropping fat?

There are a ton of recipes on youtube and many other sites, but very often these recipes have a variety of ingredients which I'm reluctant to stock up either because I don't like the taste or it's meant for this recipe only (e.g. dates, almond milk, coconut oil).

Distributing protein intake over several meals vs. intermittent fasting

On the one hand I'm reading that the best approach to increase lean mass is to distribute protein intakes in several meals across the day (4-6), with about 0.4g/kg protein per meal. On the other hand I'm reading that intermittent fasting (eating all the daily calories on a 4 or 8 window span) also achieves this goal. Is there any evidence that suggests one is better than the other?

If I'm bulking, but reached my caloric intake for the day, but hungry, should I eat?

from Bodybuilding.com Forums - Nutrition https://ift.tt/2F0JBpY

Is there a way to get the body I want without using cut/bulk cycles?

I've been going through a bulking cycle the last 4 months and I would estimate my body fat percentage to be around 16% or 17% currently. I'm 6'2 and weigh 200 lb and ultimately I'm trying to get a leaner look while building muscle. The obvious suggestion would be to go on a cutting cycle. I'm very skeptical about traditional bulking/cutting cycles. My problem with bulking is I'm essentially eating more food than my body needs and I'm adding visible fat in the process, which is unmotivating. Right now, for example, I can see my midsection getting softer and it's hard to convince myself to keep going with the bulking at this stage. On the other hand, I feel like cutting leaves a lot to be desired and it's very hard to effectively cut in a short time frame while retaining muscle.

Finding a replacement shake for Herbalife / Isagenix

Hi guys, my parents have finally given up on MLM, and are finishing their last few tubs of Herbalife and Isagenix. Their products are expensive and just a waste of time as a biz op. One good thing that came up of this is that these companies actually do make decent shakes if your aim is purely for how they taste and how it keeps them full for an entire meal.

I am looking for something to replace their standard shake routine, but since I am personally more used to buying Whey Proteins, which are not fit for their purpose, wondering if you guys can recommend any brand and product that has a similar (thick) consistency and taste to Herbalife and Isagenix, ie. a blended protein shake that's thick and works as a meal replacement.

Also, please help by not recommending:
1. Pure whey proteins; yes, we know they're great for what they're intended for, but they're not MRs.
2. A blend of two products; it's needs to be as simple as what they're taking now. Fuss-free one tub.
3. Blending with fruits or grains; yes, already know that.

Thanks guys! Much appreciated.

IF Cutting. Meal and Workout timing for Office job.

Hey guys.

Goal: Shred some fat and gain muscle.

I naturally do and love IF for at least 18 hours on work days, as I don't want to waste any sleep time at the morning on eating..

I wake up at 7:30, commute to the office, work hard, leave office at 7pm then straight hit the Gym at 7:10 (lifting + swimming a bit).
Get home at around 9:40-10:00 pm, this is where I have my main meal of the day then go to bed at around midnight.

Need several recommendations:
1. Meal timing. Should I just do the plain One Meal a Day thing? As some IF advocates says that best thing is faster workout does it work in my case as my workout is at the end of the fast? Should I add a meal before workout maybe after 18 hours of fast?
2. What would be best meal to break the fast? Like I've heard some talks on Insulin lately and that I want to have my Whey Protein shake only after workout as it spikes insulin level - is it something to care?
3. What will be your other general advice on diet in my situation? Do I want to go Keto? I've heard that taking carbs+fats is no good at all, especially after fast.
4. When I go to doctors all of them say one thing - eating huge meal before the bed is very bad because juices from the gut will raise and could burn some organs (this is why I have throat acke and get sick so often) - is it something to consider?

On weekends I don't do IF and just go low-carb.

Need some nutritional advice (gaining muscle)

Hi everyone, I'm new to fitness and would love some advice.

I am a female, 5'5", 117lbs as of today. I am pretty skinny and would like to build muscle but am not sure what my nutritional goals should look like. I am using Lose It! to track my calories, but I'm not sure what to set my goal weight at. Obviously I'm not trying to lose weight, so I'm wondering what my calorie intake should be with the goal of gaining muscle mass?

Any advice is greatly appreciated! :)

Cutting help.

Long story short I did a bulk to 150 to 170. Did not like results of my running speed / distance and physique so I started my cut.
Went into a cut 170 to 154.9 @ 28.7% BF
Dropped again to 144.4 @ 23.6% BF

I am now hovering 150-155 since I stopped counting but I might be picked in going into the Police Academy so I want to drop as much dead weight as possible.
I am inferring I am 20-24% BF and would like to drop to 10-15% and in athletic condition to an extent.
I am 5'8" 23 Male and have tracked calories and macros to an extent as well.

During my first few cuts I did keto with 16:8 fasting.
Because of my current living situation I am unable to prep up a lot of food that I was able to eat way back.
The only enjoyable food I am allowed to make currently is baked fish.
I also grab frozen vegetables and microwavable rice, drink 2/3 to a gallon of water everyday and take a multivitamin.

My current macros are:
1600Kcal
140Protein
100Carbs
71Fats

Most of the time I don't hit the carbs or fat intake but the gym energy is decent so far.
My question is for the sake of my taste buds is it healthy to eat 3 Servings of Panda Express Teriyaki Chicken alone with microwave rice and mixed veg's as stated above?
Sometimes I'll also buy Kroger rotisserie chicken as my main protein or throw in 1lb of fish either Salmon, Cod or Tilapia.
I'm not allowed to cook and so these are convenient for me.
I also eat only at work and have 2 breaks and a lunch so I spread that "big meal" into 3 separate occasions.

For gym routine I do a PPL.
Mon Push
Tue Cardio
Wed Pull
Thur Cardio
Fri Legs
Rest
Rest

I also checked my stats using the InBody 570 Scan. I want to dedicate my cut as efficiently as possible and so I am doing the comp test once every month. Let me know if I am doing it wrong or whatever. So far I have read the nutrition threads and done my due diligence but I would like to hear from some people. Thanks for the read and hopefully I can get my mind a rest lol.

Minimum protein requirement question

From all the info i have read it seems that most studies show little benefit to more than 0.7 gram per pound of bodyweight for optimal muscle gain. My question is how do lower amounts of protein than 0.7g compare,if 0.7 is optimal how much of a difference would eating 0.6 or 0.4g etc? how linear is the drop off below 0.7? i hit 0.7 with ease most day's i am genuinely just curious about how low you can go and still get good results.

Same meals every day

Is it possible (and healthy) to eat the same thing every day? Would it be possible to hit all my macros, in a healthy way, for the day by eating the same thing for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks? I want to start a cutting diet, but I hate shopping, and I'm not a great cook. I'm also not worried about variety (in the sense that I'm not concerned with getting bored with what I'm eating), so being able to just buy, in bulk, what I need for 2-4 weeks of eating (I plan on cutting for two months, the 2-4 week window is just to minimize how many times I have to shop during that two months) and not having to plan my meals (as it's always the same thing) would be super helpful to me. Is this actually possible?

i'm just so tired all the time and gym is terrible. Feels like such a chore and feel tired. Worst part is i'm not even that shredded. i used to be more shredded before and felt better

i need like 2 scoops of PWO just for some energy and i don't even have mch caffeine.

i'd rather stay at home then see a girl and have sex.

carb intake for fat reduction

I am beginner to novice in the gym . Still can not figure out carbs intake timing to shed belly fat. If I try to eat more / bulk up carbs then it sits in my belly fat. if I try to eat less then I run out of energy all the time. any suggestions ??
My protein intake is 1gm per body weight. Tried replacing carbs with fats. Waist line went up there too.

Feels like death post workout

My post workout meals usually consist of a bulk serving of steak , one sweet potato, and some broccoli
I eat this at least 4 times a day plus snacks usually lots of fruit
Protein at least 3 times a day usually a scoop or more
Creatine, EAA, Pre, Fish oil
Drink tons of water
No rice , no carbs . Just meat and veggies / fruit

Am I not getting enough carbs?

I feel like fainting all the time. Esp after heavy sessions. Been lifting for decades. Get Doms regularly but it's the light headedness that bothers me.

Is 1700 calories low enough?

according to multiple calorie calculators my needed caloric intake with "little to no exercise" should be roughly 1700 calories. If I eat that much and exercise would that be a good way to lose my last 6 pounds?
thanks in advance.

PS. i know calorie counters are BS but i needed to start somewhere

Nutrition HELP!!!

I recently got back into fitness. I'm 24 years old 6'2, I'm what you would consider a "hard-gainer". I went from 195 to now being 147 after highschool and sports. I have a warehouse job at WalMart which is VERY physical and I work for 12 hours a day.

The issue?

Last week I weighed literally 157 Ibs. earlier last week the 18th, I'm on my third and last workday and I lost 10 Ibs. according to my scale in a matter of days. Now I have a fast metabolism and I do not eat much on my 3 days of work except 2 Clif protein bars on my break and then a can of chunky soup at night before I go to bed. The reason for this is I don't want to have an upset stomach at work where I'm constantly having to move and reach production. So the fast weight loss really isn't unexpected, especially considering I barely eat during the 3-day period my body is being worked the most. I feel great however though.

I've bought ON Super Mass (I've used this before to initially gain weight before the switch to whey protein and making my own shakes) Works like an effing charm. It's the reason I was 157 in the first place after working out for just 2 days I went from 150 to 157Ibs. I held that weight until the weekend when my job rolls around then lost 10 Ibs.

I should add I haven't worked out a full week yet (Mon-Thursday is my schedule I've set) due to not having Mass Gainer. Earlier in the year worked out for 5 months straight every day, didn't gain weight but got stronger and was able to lift more until an inevitable plateau because I wasn't eating more calories than I burn on a given day.

Each day after I work out, I'm shooting for 3,100 a day and I'm just gonna stay home all day sitting on my gaming chair working on stuff and consuming calories. that's it.

My question is if I do that will I retain the weight I gained through my 3 day work period where I only eat 2 protein bars and chunky soup after throwing cases for 12 hours, or will I lose it all in 3 days even after busting my ass in the gym and eating enough healthy high-protein foods mixed with Mass gainer shakes?

(Just in case for understanding) Example: If I work out and consume 3,100 calories as planned a day through my 4-day workout routine and gain 10 pounds (for example sake). At the end of my 3-day work week where I only consume 850 calories each day, will I lose all 10 pounds I worked hard to gain? Or just lose some of the weight?

If I am to lose my progress after my work week, Are there any foods or meals that are high in calories that I could consume after work that won't make me want to go to the bathroom the next day at work?

So sorry for the long read, I haven't been on a legit thread ever so I don't know if this good or bad. Thank you, however, for those who did take the time out their day to read, regardless if you respond or not!

Alcohol consumption help

I’ve been struggling with booze for about 8 weeks now. There’s been a lot of trauma going on in my personal life and bourbon seems to be the quickest way to take the edge off. I want to quit, but this is the first set of holidays that I haven’t had my kids (or ex gf daughter) on Christmas morning in 11 years. I didn’t put up a tree and I can barely afford a single gift for my kids because my ex has taken me back to court and I’m paying a lawyer. (She also spent 11 months attempting to get me dishonorably discharged from the Army.) For the first time in my life, I didn’t even put a tree up.

Surprisingly, my meal plan hasn’t been effected but it’s a coin flip if I make it to the gym or not. This drinking has to stop. Has anyone ever beat this before? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is it okay for a skinny dude to eat junk food?

17yr, 181cm, 65kg

And with "junk food", I mean cheeseburgers. I dont eat any fried food or drink soda. Just buy like 2-3 small cheeseburgers from burger king after lifting weights so I can easily get my calories in there to try and step over the 3000 calories line.

Daily I eat around 7 eggs to breakfast and use whey protein and eat whatever we got to dinner. I always miss like 700-1000 calories and think that its an easy way to get the protein and fat in place.

(Female) Healing slowed down metabolism.

my girlfriend is having a slowed down metabolism problem.

2) She's 29, 5'8, 135 lbs
3) she's sub 20% BF, has a 27-28" waist.

photos for reference.

She barely eats anything in a day, all clean food. I counted it to 1200 cals maximum. She's doing heavy kickboxing 3 times, 1 hour intensive sessions per week. She has crohn's disease but is currently on good medication. I believe her time as untreated crohn might have slowed down her metabolism, because as soon as she eats a little more, she can gain like 10 pounds in two weeks.

Her hair grows very slowly, I dont know if there's a link?

Is there anything I can do without chemicals to restore her metabolism?

She would like to lose 10-15 pounds but her weight stalls despite diet and heavy exercise.

does anyone add up all the calories on all the packages after they go shopping?

I just did something for the first time. My fridge was pretty empty (I've eaten everything since the last time I really went shopping) and, tired of knowing if I'm under/overestimating my daily Calories, I decided to add up the total Calories on everything on my entire shopping trip, since my fridge was pretty empty and I also have to stock up since stores are closed over the holidays here so I purchased lots of food. This was easy to do by just multiplying across the package size and Calories times the number of each type of package (when I bought multiple of the same package), as I put everything away. Only a couple of pieces of fruits/vegetables didn't come with nutritional labels.

I don't usually eat at fast food, and I'd have to add in anything I ate at anyone else's house, but this seems to be a pretty definitive way for me to get a total. The only thing I didn't buy that I'll be eating some of is a bit of cooking oil, sugar-free ketchup, mustard, and assorted condiments like pickles, Worcestershire sauce, spices, salt, artificial sweetener, and I still had a bit of oatmeal left.

Does anyone else track your Calories this way (adding everything up across all of your packages of food when you get home), then divide out by how long it takes to get through everything? Is this a good approach?

How the future of Fortis Healthcare rests on the outcome of a high-stakes battle

The outcome of this high-stakes case will be keenly watched in four countries — India, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan. Getting tired of people commenting my nutrition

Hi.

Ive been training serious for about a year. Ive started seing good results. Lost 20pounds of fat, got a bit of muscle in my pecs and back especially.

Some people are giving me compliments which is nice, but one thing is annyoing me.

I get a lot of commenting on my nutrition. I eat eggs and oatmeal every morning at work and for lunch usually some sort of chicken, rice or fish.

Seriously almost everyday someone is always commenting like: oh, you eaying fish, what are you training for? You dont want to eat something normal? And its almost like I am a laughing stock for not eating nutella or what the heck people are feeding themselves with.

Also I dont eat sweats, candy, donuts or drink soda. And people almost dangling it in front of me and always saying: come on, one dont matter, enjoy yourself, whats the big deal?

I am seriously getting tired of this. Anyone else dealing with this?

Im afraid I will explode one day.

Many obese people talk about they get looks when eating unhealthy, but man try bringing fish for lunch and people look at you like your an alien.

am I a mesomorph? endomorph? or something else?

I really dont fit that well, under any of these categories.
1) i metabolize carbohydrate well and dietary fat really badly and cant eat more than 60g of fat per day without fat gain
2) if i eat higher fat diet I gain body fat easily
3) I have a moderate to slightly high metabolism
4) My leptin sensativity seems low and i have a huge appetite
5) I build muscle fairly easily
6) I have a lot of trouble maintaining muscle while losing fat even with sufficient protein
7) If my calorie deficit is greater than 400 all of what i lose beyond that is muscle and my body fat is 12% and my height/weight is 6'1,193lb
8) If i ever am in a calorie deficit on leg day, I lose muscle
9) If i eat moderate to higher fat diet or a reduced carb diet I slow down metabolism and lose lots of muscle on a cut

what am I? an endomorph who happens to metabolize carbs well?

Trying to figure out my calories

Hey guys, I just got done playing college rugby at 22 and trying to figure out how much I need to be eating. I still workout every day and work with UPS over break. Still doing Olympic lifting competitively as well. I’m sitting around 6’3 6’4 202 pounds. I did 2 body scans, one saying I’m 7% body fat and one saying I’m 13% body fat. BMI sitting around 24. Some say I need 4000 a day and some say I need 3000 a day. Just trying to stay in shape and put on muscle as lean as possible. Any help?

At what level of sleep does muscle growth start to take a hit?

Sorry, I couldn't find a place where this question would really fit, so this is where I ended up.

I get about 6.5-7 hours of sleep 2-3 nights a week, and then 8 for the rest because of school.

At what point ( 7, 6, 5, etc.) does muscle growth start to take a hit?

Thanks.

Bread vs rice for overall strength/energy/gains

When you look at the diets of strongman Brian Shaw or Thor for example, they eat rice with every meal.
Of course they need to reach their daily calories/proteins etc, so they eat very often.
But my question is if it matters what they eat, as long as it's clean?

Instead of a cup of rice they could also be eating bread instead.
Does certain food help more with strength/gains or is it just personal preference?
Maybe they eat rice so much because it might be easier to digest for them.
Of course they take a ton of supplements as well, but just wondering.

Right now i have my rice or potatoes for dinner. But everything before and after that consists always of bread.
Bread with sandwich meat, peanut butter etc.
My progress pretty much halted these days. So i'm thinking of switching up my diet.

Do you think substituting bread with rice, and perhaps instead of sandwich meat/pb, i can use chicken breast, ground beef and fish for more protein?
I already reach 1.5 grams of protein per bodyweight lbs though. So i doubt getting more protein will do the trick.
Then again i also doubt it matters whether someone eats rice or bread since both are carbs.
Maybe i just need to train harder or be more patient.

Thanks for reading!

Is there any truth to his absurd post or is it complete and utter nonsense?

Need help with my calorie calculations

So I don't know how many calories I should be taking in, and calorie calculators online only have like 3 or 4 different activity levels.

So I am 38 yo. 5 ft 9 inches, 146 lbs. I want to gradually gain muscle, while also minimizing fat gain. My exercise routine involves doing 4-5 (10 rep) sets of weight lifting (all on machine) without rest, and rapidly decreasing the weight and continue without pausing lifting once I increasingly experience muscle failure. I often do chest press, single-leg leg presses, shoulders, lats, calves, or other body parts subbed in, depending on the day. All in all, I do about 4-5 different weight lifting exercises in a day. I do each body region until I can't go any longer, while still lowering the weight. All finished up with some resistance cardio, such as rowing. I try to do this every other, or every 3 days, if I can. But sometimes my job has me working 12 hour days multiple times a week, and during those weeks, I can't.

Aside from that, my routine is pretty dry. I work an office job, and my job is a 6 minute bicycle ride from my apartment. Biking is easy for me, so there is very little HR increase from that. On days that I don't go to the gym, my activity level is pretty low. Slug level sedentary. I work at a desk for a living, 6 - 12 hours a day. But when I can get into the gym, I try to go as hard as I can. As of now, I get to the gym maybe 1 to 3 days a week.

I track everything I eat on MFP. What should be my maintenance calorie level? Is 2k cals too low?

Two meals two hours apart per day

Hey everyone,

ISSN 2018 recommends eating at most 40g of protein per meal spread 3-4 hours apart. I figure my lean mass is 70kg (everything else about me is average :-/ ) therefore, total daily protein is about 70*2=140g.

Can I spread my daily requirement over two meals two hours apart? I would like to fast the remainder of the 24 hours.

Thanks

Natco's latest move is consistent with its earlier launches and challenging the patents held on anti-cancer drugs by multinational drug companies.
