I've always been a hard gainer in my 20s and 30s. At 42, I started hitting the gym last June. I went with the typical high calorie surplus diet like I had before.
I started at 174lbs. I'm now 215lbs. But I've put on some belly/side fat that I'd rather not have. I'm assuming being over 40 has something to do with it, lol.
Is it safe to say that I'm above the required calorie surplus if I'm gaining that kind of fat?
I still want to gain muscle, just not so much fat. On my current diet, I've stayed at about 215lbs for the last month or so. Something has stalled obviously.
I'm 6'1" btw and my current daily intake is roughly 3500-4000 cal.
