I noticed that I put on weight and muscle on a vegetarian diet. On tuna/red meat and chicken all day long I start losing weight and muscle.
Can that mean that I don't have the microbiome to metabolise meat products?
I read a very interesting article on ncbi and they found that if you don't have the species in the microbiome to metabolise inulin (it becomes butiric acid) then the food will just pass-through the intestine untouched and you don't get benefits from salads at all, which is the creation of butiric acid, a short chain fatty acid.
After eating meat I usually have diarrhea. After vegetables the stool is healthy. I noticed that on me. On other people it is definitely different.
I noticed when I ate at burger king for some time, I lost weight and muscle and the stool was messy. Even home made meat recipes did not do any better.
