Pharma cos can't claim freebies to doctors as tax exemption: SC

The Supreme Court said pharma companies cannot claim tax exemption against freebies handed out to doctors as it is not allowed under current rules. M/s Apex Laboratories had argued that the rules barred doctors from accepting freebies but there is no such bar on pharma companies gifting them.
