What will happen to my body if I maintain and start lifting?

I used to weigh 116kg/255lbs

I reached my goal of 90kg/198 lbs about 2 years ago and ever since I've just been maintaining I've got a pretty good grasp on calorie intake and how to maintain. I stopped gyming 2 years ago and still maintained.


My question is if I continue maintaining and just start weight lifting whats going to happen to my body?

I currently eat 2300-2400 calories a day, with my macros at 30% carbs/40% fat/30% Protien

Im just curious because I've never understood why people will bulk and then cut? what would happen if you just maintained your weight but slowly transformed the fat into muscle or is that not even possible?
