My Carbs cognitive test experiment:

So I ran this experiment several times to determine if carbs have any effect on how well my brain is working. I’m an amateur chess player ranked 2150 which is in the upper 1% of chess players, thou absolutely pathetic compared to top pros obviously. So what I did is play online while in Keto as well as just on very low carbs 20-75 grams daily both short and long term after adaptations and passed the Keto “flu”, and also play online with carbs ranging between 75-200 grams or so per day.

Carbs HELP performance in this case. My chess rating is consistently higher with carbs by 100-200 points. I played dozens of bullet games (1 minute per game) at different times during the day etc.

While my carb tolerance is bad and I feel a steady flow of energy on low carb diet with no cravings and my cardio is actually much better on low carb, BRAIN-wise carbs HELP the thinking process.
This correlates with top chess players very often sipping fruit juice during games.

I know some studies likewise showed similar results. But I thought some of you guys might find it interesting.

Cliffs:
- eat them carbs before you do the thinking stuff...
