Question about intermittent fasting and crossfit?

I've considered doing it for the health benefits (the if), but I also do crossfit... my question is... (I work nights weird shift can't change this)... if I fast from say 4am until 8pm, but my crossfit workout is at 4:30pm... will I be completely wiped out for my workout having fasted for so many hours? Would this negatively effect me? The common sense rule to me says **** yes this is gonna mess me up don't do it, but I really don't know if this has been addressed and am looking for serious answers if anyone knows anything on this.
