Alcohol and fitness

Hey all.
Ironic my first post in this section is re. Alcohol.
I'm Irish and my friends aren't into fitness. As a result, despite my efforts and suggestions our weekly meetups revolve around alcohol.
So, my question is, are the carbs in cider i.e. sugar worse for body comp than the carbs in beer i.e from yeast in strict terms where hypothetically they are matched for carb content ?
Also opening the floor to general discussion re. Alcohol and bodybuilding.
