How to lose the feeling of being a "glutton"

Hi there! Let me clarify, I am not obese couch-potato eating myself to death. Well, I used to be, but I have taken control and become healthier. I still have a long way to go but I think I have some psychological issue. I come from a well-to-do family where I have been fed enough. But in spite of that, whenever I see food I get this feeling of frenzy that I am going to eat it all, even though I know well that I may not be actually able to eat it. I truly feel from the inside that only food can provide me with the ultimate pleasure in life. Whenever I decline that ice-cream or last slice of pizza, I would repent all night. But the next day I would realize that I did myself a huge favor. But you see, what's really wrong with me.
"Gluttony" is a sin after all. I feel that I might actually I might be able to reach my goal if I am able to do away with this gluttonous feeling.
Can anybody relate to this? How can one be simply agnostic to something they truly love?

Sorry, this is more of a philosophical question than one related to nutrition. Any advice?
