Goal is to lose belly fat and gain muscle. Am I on the right track?

I need some experienced suggestions

My Stats

Age: 24
Height: 5'5
Weight: 128lb
Bodyfat 15-16%
Waist is 29.5 inches
Calorie maintenance: 1,915

Macros
Protein: 153g
Carbs: 148g
Fats: 35g

I'm doing a 6 day split
Tuesday: legs
Wednesday: biceps, triceps, shoulders
Thursday: chest and back
Friday: legs
Saturday: biceps, tris, shoulders
Sunday: chest , back
Monday: rest

I used to be 135lb then went up to 148lb in 2 months about last year. I was eating around 2800-3000 calories. I had no idea what i was doing and obviously gained fat in the process. I then went on a 1650 calorie diet and lost those pounds and now i am at 128lb , but i still have some belly fat.

About 5 weeks ago, I decided to up my calories from 1650 to 2165 because i started to plateau in the gym. Then my numbers started going up, but my body composition has stayed the same.

My goal is to get rid of this extra belly fat and start packing on muscle and i want to know if i am on the right track. My diet is mainly whole foods. Eggs, cottage cheese, sweet potatoes, chicken, sardines, vegetables, olive oil for fats, protein powder, ground turkey.


I do 3 sets of each exercise and try to go to failure on every set. I spend about 40-50 minutes in the gym and 30 minutes on leg day.

How is my diet?

I follow a high-protein ketogenic diet and I'm trying to cut (while also building muscle) so I keep my caloric intake between 2000-2500 a day. I usually burn at least 500-600 calories exercising.



Here's a simple of what I usually eat:

Breakfast

3 brown eggs w/ turkey sausage and bacon (seasoned with salt, black pepper, and granulated garlic). Ratio keto-friendly yogurt and a cup of ground coffee w/ premier protein.

Lunch

8 oz ground turkey (seasoned with salt, black pepper, granulated garlic, red pepper, and browning) or 2 chicken drumsticks (seasoned with salt, black pepper, paprika, and sugar-free bbq sauce), 1/3 cup of sardines, 1 scoop of protein power, and catalina crunch with almond milk. This is my pre-workout meal.

Dinner

8 oz steak (seasoned with salt, black pepper, granulated garlic, and red pepper) or salmon (seasoned with salt, black pepper, granulated garlic, and paprika), roughly a cup of veggies (usually seasoned with salt and pepper), a medium avocado, and 2 tea bags of ginger tea. Post-workout meal.

Snack

I try to avoid snacking as much as possible but I usually have either a mozzarella cheese stick or some nuts.



So overall... what y'all think of my diet? Is it healthy or does it need work?

How many chicken wings do you eat in a day

I've been having about 6 a day for the last week. I put some dry seasoning on them and put them in a deep fryer. After cooking those I do some breaded calamari. Then some okra, then some french fries.

I used to cook 80 pounds of chicken wings every Friday to serve at this bar. I quadrupled the business after 2 years and then eliminated the wings.

How many eggs do you eat per day?

I have always feared that eating too many eggs will raise my cholesterol and raise the risk of heart disease, but then I see all these keto doctors on YouTube like Eric Berg and Ken Berry, who say that you can eat as many eggs as you want, because the cholesterol in eggs are not harmful to the human body, and the yolk has lots of nutrients.

I have heard of Vince Gironda who recommended eating 36 eggs a day to get jacked easily.

I have also heard of a man in his 80s who ate 25 boiled eggs a day, and he was discovered to have healthy blood test markers. Can everyone eat like him or is he just an outlier?

What do you think guys? Would it be smart to make eggs my main source of fat and protein, on a keto diet? And how many eggs do you personally eat on average in a day?

New to gym. I have Crackling sounds from the shoulder joints. Not during exercise

Hey guys. I don't know it's the right forum to post this type of question but I had to ask it. I started going to gym 2 weeks ago. I have Crackling sounds from the shoulder joints. It's not during the workout. I feel it randomly sometime or probably i am overthinking about it. It's not now when I joined the gym. I feel it years ago. I have no issues during weight lifting or exercise. I do all the exercises as other newbie are doing there. Is it due to deficiency of vitamins or calcium? Should i make my diet better? or it's just normal and happens with some of you guys also? Any answer will be helpful. Thanks

They find that for older participants, predicted fat mass isn't that predictive of all-cause mortality whereas predicted lean mass still is. May be confounders here (e.g. leaner individuals are more likely to be smokers) but they still find similar results when attempting to control for some of those.

Like most of us educated individuals, i shop at an expensive store that caters to us wealthy clientele. However, lately I have noticed some riff-raff browsing through OUR chicken section, as if they could actually afford double the price of peasant stores. Whats worse is that some of these riff-raff enter the store with tank tops on, as if there were auditions for Pitbulls and Parolees. Some of these peasants look like they have probably never even read a Tolstoy novel.

Is anyone else experiencing a prolonged chicken shortage?

Since about November or December, I haven't been able to buy chicken breasts at Aldi anymore. I check every time I buy groceries, and every single time, they're cleared out. I was able to find very pricey "organic" ones at an expensive store tailored for a wealthy clientele, and at this point I'll probably just do that going forward, but until now, I was just expecting the supply to be temporarily squeezed, but they have been totally out for about half a year now...

I live in the middle of the continental US, so it could be a local economy thing, but I'm curious if anyone else has this going on.

How many calories?

Good day,

My goal is to start on 4 meals a day at roughly 40 grams protein per meal. It will consist of the following:

Breakfast:
3 large eggs, 3 bacon strips, 2 dark rye toast with butter = 627 Cal and 36g Protein

The rest of the day x3:
1 3/4 Cup rice + 4 Oz chicken breast + some veggies = 525 Cal and 40g Protein

In between snacks: Large Avocado + Orange + Apple = 496 Cal and 6g Protein

Days Total: 2,698 Cal and 162g Protein

My question: Is this enough to get started for 3x a week lifting routine?


About Me:
6'4" Tall @ 218lbs, Ectomorph my arms are chopsticks with skin over them.
Very high body fat to muscle proportion.
Currently lost 21 pounds of fat in 21 days of water fasting and continuing (yes I subtracted the water and glycogen loss from that).
My goal is to get down to around 165lbs and than start lifting. Most of my fat is around the belly from years of beer drinking.

Combining Protein with Fiber/ Veggies in general?

Probably everyone who made a high protein "diet" experienced difficulties when sitting on the throne, so I looked for answers and found out that veggies, green things and so on are obviously not only very healthy, but could fix those problems. They didn't for me, so maybe I did something wrong.

But either way, my question: Can you eat protein foods, like cottage cheese, together with fiber fruites, like carrots
Or is it better to eat them seperately, and if so, how long should the gap be betwene consumption of these two?

Do you bring your own food to a restaurant?

Once a month I have dinner with family at a country club. My dad and I usually order the catfish. Last month there was no catfish on the menu. Me, not being a 'tard, asked the server to ask the kitchen staff if there was any catfish in the freezer. There was, and that is what we ordered.

Last week there was no catfish to be found. I'm thinking about buying some catfish filets from a grocery store along with some fish fry batter seasoning and taking it to the country club. I did something similar at a bar. I sold the bar a bottle of liquor and they sold it back to me by the drink.

Have you ever done anything similar to the above two examples?

Most Accurate BMR / Caloric Intake?

When I use a BMR Calculator online it says my BMR is 2031.

On my Samsung with when I measure my body composition it says BMR is 1804.

On my Samsung Health App it says "Recommended Daily Calorie Intake is 2519".

I've been intaking about 1800 Calories... but if my Samsung watch body composition is 1804, I'm wondering if I should be at 1600 calories?

I'm mid 20s, 5'9", 203lbs. Samsung Watch says I burn around 700-1000 calories per day (Closer to 700 on weight training+physio only days and closer to 1000 on weight training+physio+boxing days).

In the last 10 days my Samsung Watch says my stats went from;
203lb / 29.9% Body Fat / 76.9lb Skeletal Muscle ... to 203lb / 27.9% Body Fat / 79.6lb Skeletal Muscle


I also saw this calculation where I should not burn more than 943Calories per day. So I try to stay near that or just below that. Not sure if that's a necessary objective to be hitting or not? (It was Weight x 0.15 = X lbs of fat... X lbs of fat x 31kcal/lb/day = Max Calorie Deficit)


So yeah, open to some advice from you guys :)

A novel theory on reactive hypoglycemia and hypermetabolism in recovering anorexics

I made a thread yesterday describing my recent blood work, which revealed a relatively low glucose measurement 2-3 hours after a large, high-carb meal, high-calorie meal.

After some input from others in that thread, I was inspired to I refresh my memory on the hypermetabolic state that many anorexics experience when they start weight-storing after accumulating significant energy debt from prolonged calorie restriction.

In short, recovering anorexics may experience varying degrees of heightened energy requirements (in many cases a VERY severe increase) due to several potential factors:

- increased TEF
- various neuroendocrine alterations
- propensity to increase NEAT while restoring weight

This got me thinking about what possible changes in glucose response those with restrictive EDs might experience after years of low energy availability.

For example:

1. if the body is consistently underfed calories, will the liver become more efficient at creating it's own glucose in the absence of food?
2. similar to #1, in such an environment, will the pancreas and metabolically active tissue then become effectively HYPER-insulin sensitive, such that it excretes more than would otherwise be created in an otherwise healthy person?


To me, this intuitively makes sense, at least. Reason being, if our tissues become chronically under-nourished, it would make intuitive sense to me that our bodies would do everything they could to saturate them with glucose and other nutrients. This heightened response could lead to over-secretion and a resulting low blood sugar as tissues soak up all the available glucose.

Contrastingly, it may also explain why personally I don't seem to experience blood sugar that low when fully fasted (it's usually around 80-90).

Perhaps the normal fasted readings are a result of my liver becoming very efficient at creating it's own glucose, considering I spent years basically running on fumes.



Maybe I'm 100% wrong, but there seems to be some logic to the idea.

Curious to know what others think.
