Scientific literature support carbs - NOT pre/post post workout

Hi!

Most of the research i can find supporting the role of carbs in muscle building revolves around the pre/post workout window. while ore-work out carbs are well supported, it seems that a fair bit of literature revokes the idea that you urgently need carbs post workout - assuming you ate pre-workout carbs. (One major theme i found is that whey /other food post workout spikes insulin in and off itself and the second is that resistance training never really burns through all glycogen stores.

With this said, what role - if any - do carbs (sweet potatoes, lentils etc) play in protein synthesis? Do they keep you in an anabolic state on a rest day? I am struggling to find any significant literature specific to this - which i want given that i am incorporating carbs again after a low - carb cut.
